観光客が行き交う通りに面しながらも落ち着いた風情溢れる佇まいは、閑寂さと華やかさが同居する「綺麗さび」をテーマに修復された築120年の趣ある建物です。

建物内には三世代のご家族やご友人、グループでのご旅行にもふさわしい一棟の中に1階、2階、それぞれ趣の異なるリビングルーム、主寝室をはじめとする大小4室の寝室、2つのバスルームを備え、快適な滞在をご提供する設備が整っています。

庭園を眺めながらゆったり過ごせる1階のリビングルームでは、仕出しで味わう京料理の魅力を堪能しつつ芸舞妓遊びを愉しむことも。
秋は一面の紅葉、春は桜と季節を味わえる2階リビングルームにはミニバーが併設され、お好みのお飲み物を片手に京都の移り行く四季を堪能いただけます。

HOTEL VMG VILLA KYOTO will open in November 2024 along Nene no Michi, in the heart of Higashiyama, Kyoto’s most popular tourist destination.

While situated on a street popular with tourists, the villa maintains a calm and elegant appearance. This 120-year-old building has been restored with the theme of “Kirei Sabi,” blending tranquility and splendor.

The villa is ideal for multi-generational families, friends or small groups. The first and second floors each feature living rooms in different styles, and there are four bedrooms of various sizes, including a master bedroom, and two bathrooms. Guests can also enjoy a range of modern amenities for a comfortable stay. The first-floor living room, with views overlooking the garden, is perfect for a relaxing time while enjoying kaiseki cuisine delivered to the villa or indulging in the traditional entertainment such as geisha and maiko performances. The second-floor living room, with a minibar, offers views of seasonal changes like autumn leaves and spring cherry blossoms, allowing guests to enjoy Kyoto’s seasonal beauty with their favorite drink in hand.

京都の風情溢れるヴィラの歴史

History of the Villa

かつて大阪一と言われた割烹料理屋「堺卯楼（さかう）」の主人であり、遠州流の茶人・数寄者でもあった鵜野吾一氏が茶会用の私邸として1940年頃に建てたものと言われています。 茶道を中心に京都の文化人や茶人が集まり、当時の上流階級が取り入れた和洋折衷の文化は、洋風待合室から居間、和風庭園、専用の茶室まで随所に色濃く影響が見られます。

The villa was built around 1940 as the private residence of Goichi Uno, the proprietor of “Sakau”, a renowned kappo-style restaurant once considered Osaka’s finest. Uno was also a tea master of the Enshu school, and the house was used for tea gatherings that brought together Kyoto’s cultural figures and tea enthusiasts. The villa exhibits a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western elements, a style popular among the upper class at the time, from the Western-style waiting room and living room to the Japanese garden, and the private tea room.

The breakfast venue overlooks the renowned “Shinen” garden, offering stunning views of the 10,000 tsubo (about 33,000 square meters) traditional Japanese garden through its windows. Enjoy a locally sourced breakfast, featuring dishes like Kyoto vegetable potage, while savoring the seasonal beauty of cherry blossoms in spring or autumn foliage. After your meal, we recommend taking a stroll through Shinen, where you can experience the beauty of each season.
